Beaches in Tisno

There are a few beaches in Tisno. “Lovisce” is a 10 min walk from the bridge on the island side of Tisno towards the village of Betina. “Lovisce” is a pebbled beach with a shallow entrance to the sea. It is well equipped with changing cabins, showers and toilets. There is a restaurant and shop and it is possible to hire umbrellas, sun beds, catamarans and water scooters. There is a small entrance charge applicable in the summer of 10 Kunas per person.

The beach at “Jazine” can be found on the mainland side of Tisno about 10 min walk from the bridge. It is a pebbled beach with man made platforms for sunbathing. The beauty of this beach that the natural shade is provided by the aromatic pine trees, perfect on hot day. There are two bars on site and one restaurant. Car parking is available just before the beach, charges apply.

If you prefer natural, small rocky bays and a  very relaxing environment surrounded by the pine trees – “Sv. Andraja” beach will be the best choice for you. Ideal for snorkel and diving. It is located just a 10 min walk away by crossing the main Tisno bridge and turning to the  left. Walk a little further towards the end of the Town on the island side of Tisno and look out for signs.

Churches in Tisno

The oldest church in Tisno is the church of Saint Spirit “Sv. Duha” originally built in 1548 and restorated in 1640. The beautiful golden statue of the Virgin Mary with child is located in the altar of this church. The solid bell tower was built in the 16 century by local craftsmen. The main mass is held in this church every Sunday at 10am.

There is a lovely church of Lady Caravaggio (Crkva “Gospa od Karavaja”) located up the hill from the church of St. Spirit (Sv. Duha). The church was built by the Italian family Gelpi in the early 18th century. There is a special “Tisno day” every year on 26th of May, when all the locals make the famous Pilgrim walk up 214 steps to the church. Breath-taking views over “Kornati” islands are not to be missed from the top.
Up the hill towards St. Andrija beach there is another very sweet little church (Sv.Andrija). It is closed now, but from the hill you can take some stunning pictures of the panorama of Tisno bay.

National park KRKa waterfalls

Fancy a great day out for swimming in crystal clear lake where several watefalls tumble down into a lagoon. Escape the sunshine in the natural shade from the trees and enjoy the outside picknic. Explore the wild nature of the park by walking around with viewing platforms for the most stunning photos. This beautiful oasis “National park KRKa” is only half an hour trip by car from Tisno. The park is well known for its several beautiful waterfalls. The most famous one is Skradinski buk. There are differnt type of excursions on offer, private guide tour around the park including visiting the museum, souvenir shop or take a boat excursion along the river with a stop on island with beautifull monastery.

National Park Kornati

Another excursion on the list “to do” is visiting the National park “Kornati”. It is a the large archipelago of unhibited islands often called a “nautical paradise”. Virtually every day from Murter (15 min taxi ride from Tisno) the excursion boats are leaving for “Kornati”. Normally excursion is for all day (10am – 16pm) and includes a few stops for swiming in the open cristal clear sea, swimming at beautifull beach, explore the village on one of the islands and have traditional lunch there with lots of house wine and rakija 🙂
